We both work in healthcare. We get busy, stressed, pulled and twisted in every direction. The challenges come quickly as well as daily. Sometimes you have to make time for your family and loved ones.
My wife Phyllis and I had been planning a getaway to Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach was the first place we ever went together over thirty five years ago. Huricane Irene’s recent tour of the east coast altered those plans…
So we wound up in upstate New York between Rochester ( http://www.visitrochester.com/ ),
Syracuse ( http://www.visitsyracuse.org/ ) and Ithaca (http://www.visitithaca.com/ )
In the Finger Lakes Region ( http://bit.ly/mRXsvr )
We stayed on Seneca Lake at the Avant-garde.
The best way I can describe the experience is with the popular expression of today:
“Sweet!” Meaning, great, cool, good like fine wine, awesome, everything you could wish for and more.

“If you ever visit Finger Lakes in upper state NY, I highly recommend Avant-Garde on the Seneca Lake. We all need a relaxing vacation and you will not be disappointed. From the time we arrived (great customer service at check in) until the time we left, we were so amazed at all this property has to offer in the way of relaxation.
Be aware that as you travel the path to get to the house….It’s a little rough, but our Subaru could handle it. Oh my, is it worth it when you get there.
There are multiple decks to enjoy sun rise and sun sets…..There are beautiful outdoor stairs leading to the lake’s private shore. All our evening dinner meat was grilled, while we cooked breakfast in the ultra modern kitchen of this “wee” house in the mornings. You will love the amenities, great washer / dryer also.
So many great activities are within (max) 20 minutes of this lake home. My advice…..make the decision and go on vacation…relax and enjoy the sun rise and sun sets on one of three decks. I already want to reserve this house for next year……You won’t be disappointed!!!
My only suggestion:
If I would ever go in the winter….a gas fireplace would be great!!!”

Is there a template for a happy life?
How can you fulfill your dreams?
Is there a way to make your journey in life easier?
We all struggle with the answers to these questions. That’s why it’s so refreshing to read Dr. Chérie Carter-Scott’s simple and straightforward book, If Life is a Game…These are the Rules. In it, Chérie shares the lessons that all of us need to learn to find our true purpose in life…and to do so with joy!
If Life is a Game…These are the Rules is an international best seller with over 4 million copies sold. Chérie is the author of 14 books, and has been on the Oprah Show several times to share her insights about what makes us tick and what makes us happy.
We’re pleased to say, however, that Simple Truths has been given the opportunity to take a great book and make it better! We’ve made it more engaging with the graphics and more “giftable” with an embossed hard cover to create a “wow” effect.
Today, I’d like to share the introduction to her book. As Helen Keller says, “Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.” Enjoy!
An excerpt from
If Life is a Game…These are the Rules
by Chérie Carter-Scott, Ph.DLife has often been compared to a game. We are never told the rules, unfortunately, nor given any instructions about how to play. We simply begin at “go” and make our way around the board, hoping we play it right. We don’t exactly know the objective of playing, nor what it means to actually win.
That is what Ten Rules for Being Human is all about. These are the guidelines to playing the game we call life, but they are also much more than that. These Rules will provide you with a basic spiritual primer for what it means to be a human. They are universal truths that everyone inherently knows but has forgotten somewhere along the way. They form the foundation of how we can live a fulfilling, meaningful life.
Each Rule presents its own challenge, which in turn provides certain lessons we all need to learn. Every person on the planet has his or her own set of lessons to learn that are separate and unique from everyone else’s, and these lessons, as you will see in Rule Four, will reappear until they are mastered.
The Ten Rules for Being Human are not magic, nor do they promise ten easy steps to serenity. They offer no quick fix for emotional or spiritual ailments, and they are not fast track secrets to enlightenment. Their only purpose is to give you a road map to follow as you travel your path of spiritual growth.
These Rules are not mandates, but rather guidelines as to how to play the game. There is nothing you absolutely must do. I hope this book will help you to become more aware of them. By learning the valuable lessons and wisdom they offer, your journey on the Earth might just a bit easier.
As Jack Canfield, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul says in the introduction: “While reading this book, you will begin to see your life from a whole new perspective. If you embrace the principles in this book, I promise you that your life will magically transform and that you will learn the secrets to manifesting your heart’s desire.”
I hope that learning “the rules for being human” will be your key to a more joyful life.
Today, we’re pleased to offer our new release, If Life is a Game…These are the Rules

NEWS RELEASE
Growing Number of Uninsured Makes Guide More Helpful Than Ever
In response to the growing number of people without health insurance — in excess of 50 million according to the 2010 U.S. Census, the Allegheny County Health Department has updated its directory of local health centers and clinics that serve people with minimal or no health insurance.
“Our guide will remain a valuable resource for the uninsured and underinsured until the health care reform law fully goes into effect and expands access to health care,” said County Health Director Dr. Bruce W. Dixon.
The latest version has an expanded list of dental care services and other recently added resources, including a new weekly walk-in clinic sponsored by the Monroeville Assembly of God and support groups/programs for cancer patients and loved ones offered by the Cancer Caring Center.
Originally published in 2007, the directory is intended primarily for social service agencies and other community organizations dealing with the uninsured, but individuals also may find it useful as a handy guide to health care providers.
Most of the providers listed in the directory use a sliding fee schedule based on household income and family size for patients with no insurance. The fees may be as little as $25 or less and possibly even waived in cases of extreme financial hardship.
The 38-page guide lists more than 40 local clinics and health centers as well as resources to help with other needs, including prescription drugs, vision care, dental care, transportation and health advocacy. It also features a listing of health insurance options for low-income families.
The directory is available on the Allegheny County Health Department web site, under Timely Topics, at http://www.achd.net, or by calling 412-687-ACHD (2243).
In other counties, boroughs and states check with local government for resources.

So I had to work on Saturday. Two events. One early here in the city and one in the evening in Erie, PA.
I asked my wife and we made plans for a quick getaway. I have been traveling to Erie for years. Mainly for work.
I know about the winters, all that.
So we got a chance to attend the NAACP Annual Dinner and spend the night at the Sheraton Bay Front &

No one said that the road to success is easy. Despite your good intentions and hard work, sometimes you will fail. Some successful entrepreneurs suffer setbacks and resounding defeats, even bankruptcy, yet manage to quickly stand up to make it big in their fields. Your courage to persist in the face of adversity and ability to bounce back after a temporary disappointment will assure your success. You must learn to pick yourself up and start all over again. Your persistence is the measure of the belief in yourself. Remember, if you persevere, nothing can stop you.
Seek the will of God for your life. Step into your calling. Use your unique gifts, talents and experience to Glorify God.

You start a business to change any part or all of your life. To attain this change, you need to develop or uncover an intense, personal passion to change the way things are and to live life to the fullest. Success comes easily if you love what you do. Why? Because we are more relentless in our pursuit of goals about things that we love. If you hate your job right now, do you think you will ever be successful at it? Not in a million years! You may plod along, even become competent at the tasks, but you will never be a great success at it.
Find what you love. Love what you do. Find your passion.
You will achieve peak performance and do what you have to do to succeed only if you are doing something that interests you or something that you care about. Entrepreneurs who succeed do not mind the fact that they are putting in 15 or 18 hours a day into their business because they absolutely love what they do. Success in business is all about patience and hard work, which can only be attained if you are passionate with your tasks and activities.
Work at something you love and it will cease to be work. Change your life today.

So working with the premise that “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. It has been a minute since my last blog. Busy working, recovering from stent procedure, all that. If you are liking what you are reading, if this information is helpful – let me know. hdboykinjr@gmail.com. Also if the former is true let your friends and people that you know about this blog. Thank you in advance.
Over the next few blog posts I will be sharing some Entrepreneurial Success tips that were shared with me, information on some hot programs, opportunities and industries – all designed to bring you closer to your own success.
This article has some great advice that you should consider when starting any new business! If this is the first time you will own a business you will greatly appreciate the knowledge and advice provided.
“10 Secrets of Successful Entrepreneurs ” was written by Jenny Fullbright and shared with me by Brett Waddell.
How do you know whether you can be a successful entrepreneur, or if you are better off as a salaried employee? While there is no surefire formula for success, studies have shown that successful entrepreneurs share these ten characteristics. Check if you possess any one of them.
Running a one-person business is a creative, flexible and challenging way to become your own boss and chart your own future. It is as much about creating a life, as it is about making a living. It takes courage, determination and foresight to decide to become an entrepreneur. From the relatively safe cocoon of the corporate world, where paychecks arrive regularly, you will be venturing into the uncharted territories of business.
“Think Success”
To attain the kind of success that you want, you need to dream big. Every success story starts with big dreams. You need to have big dreams for yourself – which do you want to be somebody rich, famous, or fulfilled?
You need to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve. But it dosen’t stop in dreaming alone. You should actively visualize success in your mind so that you can almost feel it; touch it, so it is within your reach.
Play the image back at every opportunity. How would it feel to triple your current income? How will your life change? What will your business look like when you achieve the million-dollar mark?
Successful entrepreneurs possess an attitude of openness and faith; that you can have what you want if you can simply envision it as the first step on the path of action to acquiring it. Management gurus have taught us the power of visualization – seeing yourself in your mind as having accomplished your dreams.
If you want to be a successful writer, envision yourself signing books forr a throng of people who have your autograph. If you want to be rich, picture yourself in luxurios surroundings holding a fat bank account. And the process of envisioning success for you should be constant activity.
You need to think that you are successful every single waking hour. A personal development coach shared with me her secret that helps her continuously visualize her goals for the moment; when climbing stairs , recite your goal with every step you take. So if you want to make more money, say, “I will have money” on every step of the stairs. This technique will reinforce your goal and keep it fresh in your consciousness.

So you’re not gonna believe this …
A buddy of mine discovered a loophole in the
